Eau de Parfum vs Eau de Toilette: what actually changes?
Understand EDP, EDT and parfum in plain language, including concentration, character, projection and why stronger is not automatically better.
The name describes a format, not the whole experience
Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum usually indicate different fragrance-oil concentration ranges, but there is no single performance rule that applies to every brand. The ingredients, structure and intended effect matter as much as the number on a formula sheet.
An airy Eau de Parfum can sit close to skin, while a well-built Eau de Toilette may project clearly. Compare the actual scents, not only the label.
A practical comparison
Think about format through the way you want to wear fragrance.
- Eau de Toilette often feels lighter or more transparent and can suit frequent daytime use.
- Eau de Parfum often gives the heart and base more room, which can create a richer dry-down.
- Parfum or extrait is typically more concentrated, but may project closer rather than simply louder.
Which should you choose in India?
Choose for your routine. If you prefer a lighter refresh in hot weather, an EDT may feel right. If you want a more dimensional trail from office to dinner, an EDP may be more useful. In both cases, test how the formula behaves through heat, humidity and indoor cooling.
VikAa's first edition is Eau de Parfum because each composition is designed around a distinct arrival and a developed afterglow. Individual wear will still vary.
The discovery rule
Never assume concentration alone tells you which bottle you will love. Wear the scent from opening to dry-down, compare it at different times of day and choose the one you keep wanting to smell again.
